Pennsylvania Dutch Apple Pie with Brown Butter Crumble

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a 9-inch pie dish by greasing it lightly with butter or non-stick spray

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated with the sugar and spice mixture.

Arrange the apple slices in the prepared pie dish, making sure they are evenly distributed

In a separate bowl, prepare the brown butter crumble topping. Mix together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour the melted brown butter over the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Sprinkle the brown butter crumble topping evenly over the apple filling in the pie dish.

Place the pie dish on a baking sheet to catch any drips, then transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before serving. This pie is delicious on its own or served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
